Oasis Church – Profiled Metal Pitched Roof, South London
Project Overview
In the pursuit of architectural innovation, the challenge often lies in achieving a harmonious balance between form and function.
Our recent case study focuses on a project involving the Oasis Church’s profiled metal pitched roof, where the objective was not merely to create an appealing roofing solution, but to seamlessly blend modern advancements with traditional aesthetics while enhancing the building’s thermal performance.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was to upgrade the existing roof structure without compromising the visual character of the building, which featured a traditional tiled appearance integral to its architectural identity. In addition, the roof needed to meet modern energy efficiency standards to reduce long-term heating and cooling demand. Balancing these requirements within the constraints of an occupied site required careful material selection and installation planning.
The Solution
To preserve the building’s traditional look while introducing modern performance benefits, we installed Terracotta-coloured profiled metal roof sheets, specifically selected for their close visual resemblance to clay tiles. These retained the church’s original appearance while providing a durable, low-maintenance covering.
Beneath the sheets, we installed composite roof panels with high thermal insulation values. These panels act as an effective thermal barrier, helping reduce heat loss in colder months and limiting heat gain during summer, thus enhancing year-round comfort and lowering energy consumption.
All components were installed in line with manufacturer guidelines, ensuring compatibility and long-term performance. Careful planning and phased works ensured minimal disruption to the church’s activities throughout the project.
The Outcome
The completed roof offers a modern, high-performing solution that remains sympathetic to the church’s architectural heritage. The combination of composite panels and Terracotta roof sheets delivers improved insulation, reduced energy costs, and a visually coherent finish in keeping with the surrounding area.
This project demonstrates how tradition and innovation can be successfully combined to achieve sustainable, future-ready roofing solutions that support both aesthetic and environmental goals.
