NHS Medical Centre: Flat Roofing
Contract Value: £150,000
A flat roofing project for an NHS Trust in South London
As with all our projects, the constant use of the building was taken into consideration, and work was planned in the early hours of the morning to minimise disruption to the staff and the general public, allowing the building operations to continue unaffected during the project.
The works included the removal of the existing waterproofing and asbestos lined box guttering down to the structural decking. Once repairs to the substrate were undertaken, a new high-performance built up felt system was installed, complying with with the NFRC’s ‘Safe To Torch’ campaign. The system included the installation of 130mm insulation board, ensuring the buildings thermal performance adhered to building regulation guidance.
As with most hospital roofs, due to the volume of plant and machinery, the works required numerous M&E adaptations to ensure the waterproofing could be extended across all areas. In addition to the 1,000m² main roof areas, lift roofs and tank rooms were also included in the scope of works.
All pipe penetrations and plinths were dressed with the waterproofing system. The system was also extended into the box gutters and dressed into the roof’s outlets. We did all this work while keeping two fire escape doors fully functional and unobstructed throughout the project to ensure the clients safety.
Another NHS Roofing Project completed during the Covid-19 pandemic, on time and within budget.
