The project involved refurbishing two areas of Middle Temple’s historic estate in the City of London. To preserve the building’s distinguished character, we replaced the existing roof with Asphalt, selected for its premium quality and aesthetic appeal, along with other associated refurbishment works.

The client sought the replacement of the flat roofs whilst ensuring the new coverings remained in line with the sophistication of the surrounding architecture. Following consultation, we replaced the existing roof with Asphalt, chosen for its quality and durability over more affordable options and in keeping with the existing design.
It was imperative that the building remained operational during the works, and we implemented effective strategies to minimise disruption, including staging the works to ensure internal “quiet” times remained in place. Through close collaboration with the client, we successfully renewed the flat roof coverings while keeping the building functional and ensuring operations continued uninterrupted.
To enhance the durability of the roof and to allow access for ongoing maintenance, we recommended adding rubber-style promenade tiles. We installed the tiles across all roof areas, providing a robust, long-lasting finish.
Prior to commencement of the waterproofing we carefully removed the existing asbestos promenade tiles, adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations to protect both our team and the building’s occupants.
