COVID-19 Maguire Brothers Update

COVID-19 Maguire Brothers Update

The Covid-19 situation is very fluid and quite confusing with conflicting information being published across the plethora of media platforms, which we are privileged to be able to access these days.

So, experts on commercial roofing we might be, epidemiologist we are not and so we have resisted any temptation to try and advise our clients on how to respond to the Covid-19 virus!

Meanwhile, we have adapted our own business interruption policy and added a section for pandemics, which we have now started to implement.

Everyone in the office and in supervisory roles is set up to work remotely and we are already migrating over. We’ve introduced smaller workforce teams to ensure lower transmission potential and implemented numerous additional onsite hygiene procedures. The health and safety of our staff and customers remains more paramount than ever.

Our work on site has not been disrupted, although we have struggled to obtain masks when we’ve needed them to protect our workforce.

The virus has struck at a time of year when the roofing industry is in its seasonally slow period. We expect the market to be quieter at this time of year and then to pick up into the summer.

In view of the virus we think it’s likely that this year the seasonal effect will be exaggerated and the summer months will be busier than ever. So, where possible our advice would be to try and usher through projects earlier and take advantage of the availability of resources, and in some cases more competitive costs (with numerous manufacturers delaying spring rate increases).

Schools especially might consider bringing their summer roofing works forward it the government does decide to shut them down.

So it’s business as usual at Maguire Brothers and if you have any commercial roofing projects or repairs we can help you with please call or email, and we apologies in advance if we don’t shake your hand when we meet on site (it really isn’t personal).

Most importantly stay safe, and do what you can to make sure those more vulnerable stay safe too. These are tough times, but by working together, we will come out stronger.
