High School in South London
We began erecting scaffolding and temporary roofs, almost 100
years to the day that Father Nicholson had transferred his pupils
from the original site of the All England Lawn Tennis Club to
establish this Catholic Boys School.
Three
large Victorian blocks were re-covered with Penhryn Welsh slates,
selected to match in every detail, both in size and colour, the
original architect, Samuel Tenlon's intention. Lead lined box
gutters and flat roofs completed the roofing whilst teams of masons
restored the soft clay brickwork and the stone window surrounds.
The original cast iron windows were removed, sand blasted,
restored and replaced. Modern extensions on the Site also
required attention and nearly three thousand square metres
of high performance insulated flat roofs were re-laid and
several sets of double glazed industrial performance swing
doors were installed.
