Over
20cm of water was lying on the roof of this 1960's building when
we surveyed it. This was a Design And Build Contract and our terms
of reference were to replace the roof decking and coverings with
a system for which we could provide an insurance backed twenty
year Guarantee. There are actually seven separate roofs, but the
main area is a single span of over eight hundred square metres.
The massive temporary roof was itself a fine
piece of Engineering. The steel roof decking was topped
with a polyurethane insulation system, manufactured to provide
adequate falls. Finally, state of the art membranes were
laid to complete a durable weatherproofing system, which
will last long into the next millennium.
