DEFRA
Maguire
Brothers, one of the country’s leading roofing contractors,
has just completed a £380,000 re-roofing contract
at the government offices of the Department for Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) at Coley Park, Reading.
The project involved a flat-to-pitched conversion of the
two three-storey office blocks which are DEFRA’s main
headquarters. The conversion was carried out using the Britmet
Tileform Slate 2000 System on an Ash Jack System with powder
coated fascias and soffits. The building, which remained
occupied throughout the roofing works, was also treated
to new lightning protection and rainwater systems.
Maguire Brothers’ partner, Francis Maguire, was delighted
with the finished project. “We worked very closely
with DEFRA’s consultants, Appleyards, to ensure that
the busy offices would not be disrupted during the contract.
We all agree that the buildings have benefited aesthetically
from these new pitched roofs”.
